I'm quite certain that as long as there are computers, computer repair shops and the repairmen who work there would never go out of business.

Computers, especially in this busy and fast-paced world, do conk out once in while. Unfortunately, most of us only know how to use it and not how to repair it once something goes wrong with it. That's where computer repairmen come it.

Now the only thing that would give a computer repair shop a good edge is if they can over good value-added service to customers.

The video is still missing.

I think little local computer repair shops are on their way out. It used to be that your local shop would build your 386SX from scratch. Now, electronic stores provide super-inexpensive pre-configured systems that are guaranteed to work correctly. It's often cheaper to buy a new one than fix the old one (especially if it's an Apple!)

So, that just leaves the hobbyist as a customer for the local shop. Big internet-based parts suppliers can totally underbid the local shop... what business is left for the little guy?

That is true, there are really lots of computer stores and repair shops mushrooming all over. And for some it is a problem to attract customers but if some shops would think of ways to do something or add up something to their businesses and establishments then surely they would gain much more customers. Anyway, what are the use of tips from the experts readily available online if we won't uses them.
